When you don’t find Coach Phil on the deck you will find him playing Ultimate Frisbee, fishing and any number of outdoor activities. Having grown up in Lakeville, he still considers Lakeville home and has a passion for making the community stronger. He also feels that continuing education is the key to staying connected to the sport that he has a passion for.
Charles N Smith
Head Senior Coach - Prior Lake
Chuck started working for the Storm swim club in 2003 and has worked as the head coach of the Prior Lake offerings since 2006. He became the vice-president of the non-profit Storm club in 2006.
A lifelong athlete, he achieved All State rankings six times in high school and earned a varsity letter at the University of Minnesota for cross country running. He trained and competed as an All American Triathlete in 2004 and as a professional triathlete in 2005, placing 27th at the U.S. National Championships.
Chuck goes mountain biking as often as possible. He was recently married and enjoys hanging out with his awesome wife in Richfield, MN.

Steph enjoys swimming, softball, and hanging out with her family and friends. She recently joined the Impact Academy Team at Orchard Lake Elementary School as the 4/5th grade teacher. Steph is excited and grateful to give back to the Lakeville community she grew up in!
Brenda M Robrock
AG1/AG2/AG3 Coach - Prior Lake
Brenda began her aquatics career as a synchronized swimmer from the age of 9 through college. She competed in synchronized swimming for the University of Dayton in Dayton, OH. Brenda achieved nationals in synchronized swimming in her junior year of college. Brenda coached synchronized swimming from 1993-2013.
Brenda began teaching swim lessons at the age of 14 and has continued to do so today. She currently works as a Site Supervisor for the StormChasers "Learn to Swim" program at the Storm Swim Club, in addition to coaching age group swimming for the Storm Swim Team. She coached age group swimmers with USA Swimming from 2000 to the present. She also coaches middle school swimming for the Prior Lake school district and has coached the middle schoolers since 2008.
Brenda is passionate about kids learning to love the water and have fun. She is considered to be the "pool mom" on deck by many children and families. She is a proud mom of three very successful sons. One of her sons serves in the US Marine Corps in California. Another son swims on scholarship for the University of Denver and will be competing in swimming at the 2016 Olympic Trials in Omaha. Her third son is a member of the Storm Swim Club and has commited to swimming for the University of Denver in fall of 2016.
Running, biking, hiking, swimming, marathons and triathlons are just a few of the active endeavors that Brenda pursues in her spare time. She also loves taking care of her pets, playing trivia and visiting her sons.
Jamie M Alpert
AG1/AG2/AG3 Coach - Lakeville
Coach Jamie started with the Storm Swim Club in the spring of 2015. Jamie swam competitively from first grade through college. She began swim team with the Faribault swim club and then in third grade her family relocated and she joined Lakeville swim club (now Storm). She swam at Lakeville High School team beginning in 7th grade, specializing in 200 IM and 100 Fly. Jamie graduated from Lakeville High School in 2002 and went on to swim for Hamline University, where she was the butterflier for the team.
Jamie majored in exercise sports science, leaning towards physical therapy. Additionally, she attended St. Paul Collage for Massage Therapy. She worked as a swim instructor for Foss Swim School from 2007-2014. She was an AVID tutor for the Lakeville School District in 2014-2015. She is a massage therapist at Sabes JCC, where she has worked since Oct 2010. In 2015 she began working as a paraprofessional with the Wonder Zone program in the Lakeville School District. She has a passion for working with children who have special needs.

Garrett enjoys spending time with family and friends when he isn’t working. During the non-winter months he enjoys playing golf and spending time at the cabin. During the winter months he enjoys downhill skiing with his family. Garrett has a huge love for the sport of swimming and wants to do as much as he can to improve the younger generations of swimmers. He spent time in 2015 being a volunteer swim coach for the La Crosse Special Olympics.
